Let’s start from the basics.

What is a moped?

A moped is a small engine (less than 50cc) motorcycle with bicycle pedals. This means that its speed is slightly higher than that of a bicycle but significantly lower than those of a scooter and a motorcycle. Even the word “moped” comes from merging the two words “motor” and “pedal”. Even though today we don’t see many mopeds in their primary form (with pedals) the term still remains and is often used to denote a motorcycle with less than 50cc engine. In short, a moped is simply a bicycle that has an engine which, I assume you agree, makes it completely different from a scooter both visually and technically. You’ll come across mopeds among Honda’s two-wheeled products from which Honda Super Cub is the most well-known in Georgia.      Now let’s move on to a scooter.

What is a scooter?

A Scooter is a scooter. A scooter is Honda Giorno, Honda today, Yamaha Vino, Cliq, Dio, Vespa, and so on. The word “scooter” comes from the English word “scoot” which means to go or leave somewhere quickly. Unlike a motorcycle or a moped, a scooter has more space for legs in front which visually sets it apart from other types of two-wheeled vehicles. Scooters can also have a higher engine (up to 250cc). The best example for describing a scooter would be the world’s pioneering Vespa: It is precisely the one that introduced the design we know of today. It has to be said that there is no such thing as Vespa’s moped. Vespa has always been producing scooters and so it continues to do even today.
